Every transaction on the Internet – good or bad – uses the Domain Name System (DNS). In this fast-paced, hands-on workshop, Farsight Security Principal Architect Boris Taratine will provide an overview of passive DNS and teach the fundamental investigative techniques and methodology on how to use passive DNS, and related DNS search capabilities, to uncover adversary infrastructure used for a wide range of cyberattacks, from phishing to e-crime to nation-state attacks . This is a rare opportunity to take a “masterclass” from a top expert in the field and gain hands-on experience learning the proven techniques used by threat hunting teams, from banks to government agencies, in real-world investigations.

Boris Taratine is a passionate visionary and an influential ambassador of cybersecurity and cyberdefense. During the decades of his career, he has held senior technical and leadership roles across several industries. He actively promotes industry collaboration, participates in various industry forums, and is a frequent speaker at various industry events to influence global cybersecurity development. Boris is the highest honor graduate at the Saint-Petersburg State University. During his Ph.D. studies, he co-authored a few publications and patents granted under the NATO HiTech project; further has many publications and dozens of patents granted and pending. He is willing to share all the knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.
Farsight will provide free access to its passive DNS tool, Farsight DNSDB, for the class as well as for the following three months so attendees can use the tool in their own work environments.
No fee is required, however, to participate in this workshop, Farsight Security asks that attendees donate $25 to the global non-profit organization, AnitaB.org. A receipt for the donation is required to attend the workshop.
